Managing Partners’ Club

The Mission of the Managing Partners’ Club (MP Club) is to provide members with a trusted and secure environment for sharing and learning towards effective management to enable the advance of the legal profession as a whole.  The best mentors of Managing Partners are other Managing Partners. Hence the MP Club is by ‘invitation only’ and restricted to senior lawyers such as yourself with a clearly defined Senior Management role in legal practice companies.  You are invited.

What will MP Club deliver?

Every quarter, the enablers** of MP Club will provide the MP Club Zoom Chapter Dialogue which will be led by a subject matter expert.  The MP Club incorporates the principals of ‘The Bohm Dialogue’* format and hence facilitates effective learning through listening, speaking and reflecting.

The Management of Legal Services is also a Team Sport and the MP Club will invite Subject Matter Experts to initiate MP Club Zoom Chapter Dialogues on vital topics beyond the law to help enable creative, lifelong learning.  It is free to be a member of MP Club.  Following our first Zoom Chapter Dialogue, MP Club members are invited to make an annual donation for the running of MP Club of US$250 p.a. 

*Originally devised by the late theoretical physicist, David Bohm (1917-1996), a ‘Bohm Dialogue’ is a free flowing group conversation in which participants attempt to reach a common understanding, experiencing everyone’s point of view fully, equally and non-judgmentally.  This can lead to new and deeper understanding.

**The Enablers at MP Club

Paul Smith of Calls9, United Kingdom.  Paul is Head of Professional Services at Calls9 and co-author of ‘The Real Deal: Law Firm Leadership that Works’. Paul is the former Global Chairman of Eversheds Sutherland, where he led the firm’s global client strategy, winning many global mandates.

Lakhbir Gill, Equibloom Asia, Singapore. Lakhbir’s 24 years’ experience in the legal sector encompasses both legal and non-legal work. He was Director of Business Development & Communications at Rajah & Tann Asia where he led the development of the “Lawyers Who Know Asia” brand. He also spent over four years at Jones Day as well as a short period in the Hong Kong office of Mayer Brown JSM. His recent experience includes working with managing partners and partners from law firms throughout South East Asia. 

Patrick Dransfield, Clearway Communications, Hong Kong.  Patrick is a published author and senior executive working in Asia and the Middle East with extensive experience in revenue generation, business development, thought leadership and strategy relating to corporate and financial institutions and law firms: currently working with Asia Law Portal, and having worked with In-house Community, White & Case, Shearman & Sterling, Euromoney Institutional Investor and Haymarket Publishing.
